It was 1981, when a fiber artist named Marty McGee Bennett discovered llamas and fell head over heels. The camelids’ fiber and size had quite an appeal, but it was their personality that truly captivated her. It took only one look for this woman to know she must have one, or two or three... Three years later, she looked out her kitchen window onto a herd of 20 llamas. However, something was missing. She adored them, fed them, spent lots of time with them, yet they kept themselves at arms length, dancing away from her touch. She tried everything to get these seemingly lovable creatures to act lovable, to cooperate, to want to be with her...but nothing worked. Then, an article about the TTEAM approach for horses came across her desk. Linda Tellington-Jones’ work was effective and respectful. She carefully examined and understood the equine’s needs, then adjusted her training and handling methods to meet the needs of the horse. It made perfect sense to this camelid companion longing for her camelids’ companionship: Respect the animal’s needs and the animal will respond in kind. The woman rushed off to a clinic with Linda Tellington-Jones and—like a sponge—absorbed the approach translating it into camelid-language almost as soon as she heard it. Thus this woman’s true journey began. Now more than 20 years later, Marty McGee Bennett continues to train alpacas, llamas & their people with respect and results..... CAMELIDynamics™ definedDuring her 23 years of experience in the camelid business, Marty McGee Bennett has combined extensive training in TTEAM and TTouch (the animal handling approach of Linda Tellington Jones), the basic physical principles of balance and leverage along with an uncanny ability to read camelid behavior. The result is Camelidynamics™, an effective and respectful management, han- dling and training approach for llamas and alpacas. How do you want your alpaca to respond when you approach to catch him? What do you want your llama to do when you put on her halter? What do we want our llamas and alpacas to do when we are busy trimming toenails, grooming or giving an injection? The answer to all these questions is…nothing. When our camelids do nothing, we humans can quickly and effectively get our job done, leaving us more time to sit back and enjoy our animals.. Camelidynamics means no more grabbing, no more wrestling, no more cushing, no more spitting, no more chasing. Restraint is only necessary when an animal feels compelled to use his flight or fight response to danger. Learn which of your behaviors camelids find dangerous and threatening. Learn alternatives to these behaviors, and you are on your way to restraint-free handling. Put away your binoculars and get close to your animals. Learn Camelidynamics and learn how to behave in a way that makes your woolly buddies feel safe in your presence. A llama or an alpaca that feels safe is con- tent to stand quietly while you work with him. He will do nothing. This catalog contains all of the necessary learning aids and gear you need to work with your llamas and alpacas in a way that will gain their respect and achieve immediate results. Camelidynamics is a system that will change your life with your animals...forever. |
